Deval is a theatre enthusiast who has been organising off-beat plays across Saurashtra since 2017. She has worked with the private FM industry for more than 15 years. Asif Ajmeri has more than 20 years of experience in theatre as a writer, director, actor, drama educator and producer. He has devoted his life to keeping good theatre alive in Saurashtra. Together, their foreseeable dream is to present a few multilingual poems by the theater medium to art lovers. In this edition of Abhivyakti City Arts Project, Deval and Asif are recreating the legend of one of the most gracious rebell called ‘Jogidas Khuman - Ek Sant Baharvatiyo’ whose enmity with the king of Bhavanagar state is still remembered with respect and benevolence. Their production tells the true story of the hero from Kathiyawad who fought for his rights for 25 years and attained the title of saint. The story will be narrated in the folklore form and presented by artists with live music, dance and songs.
